One of the most challenging things I did and succeeded in was preparing for my IELTS exam to achieve an 8.5 band score. This took place a few years ago when I planned to pursue higher studies abroad.
Preparing for the exam was an intensive process. I dedicated several months to studying. I worked systematically, focusing on each section—Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. I practiced multiple mock tests, joined a professional coaching centre, and even set aside time for one-on-one speaking practice sessions with an experienced mentor. Additionally, I made sure to work on improving my vocabulary and grammar, which were my weaker areas.
The process was difficult for several reasons. Firstly, managing my study schedule alongside my full-time job was challenging. Secondly, the pressure of achieving a high score to meet university requirements was immense. Lastly, the Writing module posed particular difficulties, as I had to balance writing accurately within a time limit.
However, when I finally took the exam and received my results, I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. It was satisfying to see my hard work and perseverance pay off. This success gave me the confidence to face other challenges in life and reinforced my belief in the value of consistent effort and determination.
Looking back, this experience taught me the importance of discipline and effective planning, and it remains one of my proudest achievements.

In particular, public-facing roles and those requiring decision-making under pressure depend heavily on a person’s ability to stay confident.
On what occasions should children be encouraged? How?
Children should be encouraged when they attempt something new, overcome a fear, or achieve a goal. For instance, when they step outside their comfort zone or make progress in difficult tasks. Positive reinforcement, such as praising their efforts rather than just the results, and providing constructive feedback are effective ways to motivate them and boost their self-esteem. Furthermore, consistent encouragement helps them build resilience and keep striving toward improvement.
How do you help children stay focused?
To help children stay focused, it is important to create a structured routine, set clear and achievable goals, and minimize distractions. Additionally, encouraging regular breaks helps prevent burnout. Using engaging methods, such as interactive learning, and rewarding progress with small incentives are also practical strategies that can help maintain their attention on tasks. Consequently, this approach fosters both concentration and motivation.
What challenges do young people face today?
Young people today face a range of challenges, including academic pressure, unemployment, the influence of social media, mental health issues, and peer pressure. These factors can lead to stress, self-doubt, and difficulty in making important decisions about their future. As a result, young people often experience confusion and anxiety when navigating various life choices.
