- Why the air was not good.
- And explain how you felt about the place.
Sample Answer of Describe A Place You Visited Where The Air Was Polluted
Well, one place I visited where the air was heavily polluted was Shanghai, China. I had the chance to visit the city back in 2018 as part of a school trip.
The air quality in Shanghai was so bad that we could almost feel it in the air. The city was filled with thick smog and the air had a heavy haze to it. This was especially noticeable when we were outdoors. It was hard to breathe and the air was thick with the smell of pollution.
I was quite shocked by the level of air pollution in Shanghai. It was far worse than anything I had experienced before. It was a very uncomfortable experience, and I felt almost suffocated by the air.
At the same time, I also felt a bit sad seeing the state of the city. It was such a beautiful city, but the air pollution made it difficult to enjoy. I just wished that the city could find a way to reduce the pollution and make the air cleaner.
Follow ups of Describe A Place You Visited Where The Air Was Polluted
Question 1 Is there more pollution now than in the past?
Answer – Yes, there is more pollution now than in the past due to a combination of factors such as industrialization, population growth, urbanization, and deforestation, as well as the increased use of motor vehicles and other forms of transportation, leading to higher levels of air, water, and land pollution, resulting in a range of health, economic, and environmental impacts.
Question 2 In what ways can the air pollution be reduced effectively?
Answer – Air pollution can be reduced effectively by reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, improving fuel efficiency and adopting cleaner energy sources, implementing pollution control technologies, encouraging the use of public transport and promoting sustainable urban planning, as well as undertaking afforestation and reforestation projects, and enforcing stringent regulations and standards.
Question 3 Do you think the city is cleaner or dirtier than the countryside? Why?
Answer – It depends on the city and the countryside in question, as some cities may be cleaner than the countryside due to their increased focus on environmental regulations and practices, while other cities may be dirtier than the countryside due to their higher population density and industrial activity. Generally speaking, however, cities tend to be dirtier than the countryside due to the increased concentration of people and pollutants, resulting in higher levels of air and water pollution, traffic congestion, and waste.
Question 4 What can factories and power plants do to reduce pollutants?
Answer – Factories and power plants can reduce pollutants by installing modern pollution control technologies such as scrubbers, electrostatic precipitators, and catalytic converters, as well as switching to cleaner energy sources such as renewable energy, and adopting energy-efficient practices such as waste heat recovery, energy management systems, and process optimization. Additionally, they can reduce their emissions by employing advanced waste management techniques and investing in cleaner production methods.
Question 5 Do you think many companies have been forced to reduce pollutants?
Answer – Yes, many companies have been forced to reduce pollutants due to the implementation of stricter environmental regulations and the rising awareness of the need to protect the environment. Companies are now being held accountable for their emissions, and are increasingly investing in technologies and processes that reduce their environmental impact.
Question 6 Do you think the wind has any effect on pollution? How?
Answer – Yes, the wind does have an effect on pollution. Wind can act as a dispersal agent, carrying pollutants away from their source and diluting them, which helps to reduce their concentration and impact. Additionally, wind can also help to reduce air pollution by blowing away smog and other air pollutants, and by increasing air circulation, which helps to reduce the buildup of pollutants.
