Describe a Goal That You Hope to Achieve in the Future

Describe a goal that you hope to achieve in the future or Describe your goal in life. You should say:

I would love to share with you one of my goals in life. This is learning and talking Japanese fluently. The reason I want to learn Japanese is
that I’m keen on Japanese music and films and want to listen and watch those without reading subtitles.

Speaking of the first time I had this goal, this is when I watched a cartoon called ‘Gintama.’ There were several jokes in this series, but I couldn’t fully understand them. Additionally, there was a lot of information related to this series, but I could reach this because of language barriers. Hence, I started to learn Japanese

The first step of my goal is to study basic Japanese and get a certificate in the Japanese language. Then, I went to a small Japanese institution to learn it. It was a tough time for me since I had to do many assignments from my secondary school, which took me a huge amount of time to learn Japanese.

I think the Japanese learning process is difficult due to two main reasons. First of all, I have to learn all the Japanese characters. This is very hard to remember since those characters have many strokes and different ways to write. Secondly, I’m timid when I speak to native teachers. Although I have tried many ways, I can’t lose my inhibition. Therefore, in order to improve my Japanese by leaps and bounds, I
need to improve my speaking skills very much

SPEAKING PART 3 Describe a Goal That You Hope to Achieve in the Future

1. Should parents set goals for children?

→ I think children should learn how to set goals on their own and seek advice from their parents. This is because many goals that children set are sometimes unrealistic and harmful for their physical and mental health. Therefore, parents should lead them to the right paths. For example, children may want to become superheroes to save the world, so they keep fighting with other friends. Hence, their parents should teach them that fighting is bad and give them some pieces of advice about other jobs that are as powerful as superheroes.

2. What would you feel if you couldn’t achieve your goal?

If I couldn’t reach my goal, I would feel very unsatisfied and uncomfortable. Therefore I try to set realistic and suitable goals

3. When do young children start to set goals for themselves?

→ I think it would be when they enter school. I mean, they are old enough to know the differences between them and others, which encourages them to exceed their classmates. Take me as an example, and when I see someone that is better than me, it’ll be a motivation for me to study harder.

4. Do Vietnamese people usually set goals?

→ Vietnamese people whose age is 22 from 32 usually set goals for themselves. Their goals are mainly buying a house, having a job that can secure a minimum level of financial success, or getting a managerial position. But when it comes to older ones, they often feel satisfied with their life, so they rarely set goals.

5. Why do people set goals?

→ I think this is due to the fact that goals are the motivation for them to study and work harder. This will result in higher academic and productive output.

6. Do people need to write out their targets or just memorize them?

→ I reckon that individuals should write out their goals in the papers or on their phones. This will help people to remember the goals they set and encourage them to achieve those goals.

7. Do you think people should talk to others about their goals?

→ People should discuss with other people their goals so that they will receive useful advice to reach their goals. However, many may keep their goals secret since they don’t want others to talk about their affairs.

8. What is more rewarding, working towards the goal of achieving it?

→ I think working towards the goal is rewarding since people can gain more experience to be more mature. Additionally, they also have the opportunity to encounter people from all walks of life, which may widen their horizons and be essential for their careers.

9. Do you think it’s important to have realistic goals?

→ I would say that it’s necessary to set realistic goals since it reflects your ability and makes you more productive and motivated.

10. Do young people and old individuals have different sorts of goals?

→ I think young people tend to set academic goals and working goals such as becoming top of the class or getting a managerial position. Meanwhile, older adults will likely have goals such as being healthy or having grandsons or granddaughters, I suppose.

11. Is it always necessary to have something to aspire to in the future?

→ Definitely, yes. Having a desire to become your dream job will be a motivation for students to study harder and to develop their skills
by leaps and bounds.
