Increasing the price of petrol is the only way to solve environmental problems. Do you agree or disagree?
Environmental issues are becoming a growing concern in our 21st Century. While most people believe that there are other main contributors to environmental pollution, others think that petrol and its usage contribute majorly to an environmental hazard. As a result, some people believe that increasing petrol prices will curtail some of today’s environmental hazards. Although this may be true to some extent, I strongly disagree with this view.
I believe that there are other causes of environmental problems not related to petrol. To eliminate environmental pollution, we should focus more on these other agents. For instance, deforestation causes a major hazard which mostly leads to erosion, and it has nothing to do with petrol or petrol price. Also, plastic pollution is constantly endangering aquatic lives, thereby distorting the balance of our ecosystem. Increasing the price of petrol will not solve any of these problems. In this instance, encouraging afforestation and promoting effective recycling channels for plastics will significantly impact our environment.
In addition, hiking the price of petrol will lead to more economical problems. This is because it will become extremely difficult for most families to afford petrol. Consequently, this will further increase the gap between the rich and the poor in our society. Increasing this gap will inadvertently increase crime rates, and petrol theft will be on the rise.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree that increasing the price of petrol is the only way to solve our environmental problems. This is because there are other factors that I believe are major contributors to environmental hazards, such as deforestation and plastic pollution. Controlling these factors will go a long way in solving our environmental problems.
