Question 1:- Does it rain much in India? (Where? When?)
Answer:- It rains moderately in India between June and September in almost all regions of India.
Question 2:- Does it rain much in your hometown? (Include how often)
Answer:- My hometown is located in the southwestern part of the country. Therefore, it rains moderately. Most times, once a week or two weeks, but at times we have two episodes of rainfall in one or two weeks.
Question 3:- In what season does it rain the most? OR When (in what month/season) does it rain most in your hometown?
Answer:- The rainy season extends between March and September, with a short break in August, which is usually called August break. Sometimes, the rainy season extends to early November, but the frequency and strength decrease.
Question 4:- What about the other parts of India? OR In which season does it rain most in other parts of India?
Answer:- In some parts of India, especially the northern part, they have a short period of the rainy season that usually ends before September.
Question 5:- Would you prefer to have more rain or less rain (in your hometown)?
Answer:- Sometimes, it rains heavily that most farm plants are destroyed, and since farming is the major occupation in my hometown, I would prefer moderate rain, neither less nor more.
Question 6:- Do you like rainy days? OR How do you feel on rainy days? OR Do you feel sad on rainy days?
Answer:- I feel good on and rainy days because it makes me feel refreshed and less heat. But on days when rain interrupts my activities, I feel sad.
Question 7:- How does rain affect different people’s moods? OR How does rain affect people’s lives?
Answer:- Rainy days affect some people like farmers positively, and they believe rainy days are blessing days for them because it reassures them that their plants will grow well while it does affect some people negatively, especially those that engage in outdoor activities, rainy days interrupt their work.
Question 8:- Do you prefer rainy days or sunny days?
Answer:- I prefer rainy days to sunny days because rainy days are cool days while sunny days are hot days, and most people feel very uncomfortable with hot weather.
Question 9:- What do you do on rainy days (or on a rainy day)?
Answer:- What I do on rainy days depends on my location. When I am at home, I like to sleep, and when I am at work, I continue working as long as the rain does affect my work.
Question 10:- What do you usually do when it rains (or when it starts to rain) and you are outside?
Answer:- When I’m outside on rainy days, I usually look for a place to stay until the rain stops.
Question 11:- Do you think rain is good? (Why?)
Answer:- Rain is good because it’s so important to live. Rain provides the purest form of water for life, water for plant growth, and body-friendly temperature.
Question 12:- How does rain affect (life in) your country?
Answer:- Heavy rain causes a lot of havoc for lives, including non-living things like plants. It caused a flood which has wiped off properties like buildings, caused damage to plants, especially edible plants, which resulted in famine, and made some areas waterlog permanently. Also, it encourages the outbreak of some diseases like malaria.
Question 13:- Is there any part of India where it doesn’t rain much? (Where?) OR Is there an even distribution of rain throughout India?
Answer:- It doesn’t rain much in the Northern part of India. This part has a short period of the rainy season.
Question 14:- What effects can a shortage of rain (a drought) have on people’s lives?
Answer:- The main effect of drought is famine. Less rain causes stunt growth of Plants, thereby resulting in a shortage of food. It also causes high temperatures, which makes the weather intolerable for many.
Question 15:- Can you remember any time when it rained particularly heavily in your hometown? (When?)
Answer:- It rained heavily in the year 2020, between late July and the early days of August. During this period, almost all maize plants in the town were wiped off, and some other plants like coca, cola nuts, vegetables were fed on by pests as a result of the rain.
Question 16:- Does rain ever affect transportation in your hometown? (How?)
Answer:- Rain has affected transportation, majorly road transportation. Flood has damaged most roads which make some area inaccessible by cars. Some areas have become waterlogged, and trekking is difficult not to talk of going there with a vehicle.
Question 17:- Do you think the seasons have changed in recent years, compared to the past? (Why? How?)
Answer:- In recent times, the season has changed, and the major contributing factor is environmental pollution caused by increasing numbers of industries. In the past, there was a speculated period for different seasons, but now seasons are now shorter or longer than expected.
